I love this picture! Her face has laughed, cried, (I think laughed more!), seen hard work, perhaps a hard life? Seen moments of longing or perhaps moments of great satisfaction. Yet what I believe I see in her eyes (amongst the cataracts!) is Joy!
In a society where Ageism is rife and Ageing has become a dirty word, (rather than, well, a fact of life), where does it leave us? My honest answer: I don’t know!
What I do know, however, is that at some stage our society needs to accept the fact that it is OK to have a few lines! Usually they have been well earned and to be quite honest, add a little character. In my clinic where we inject Botox and Dermal Fillers, as well as perform other high-end skin treatments, we believe that less is actually more. On the whole, the clients who see me want lines softened, they don’t want to look 10 years younger, they want to look HOT for their age! More Power to them I say.
Ok, so I hear you saying what a hypocrite I am. Do I use botox?…hell yeah, do I have filler in my face?….how else would I get lips like I have? Have I gone overboard?…absolutely not! and there, my friends, is the key! Everything in moderation! I hate that word, but the older I get, the more I realise what strengeth of character you must have to do everything in moderation, to eat, drink, exercise, etc, the only thing that should never be done in moderation is to smile and love!
Which takes me back to the photo! Would you ever want to change a face as beautiful as hers? I think not!
