I am going to share with you an article that was written by Jon Andrew’s. It details the benefit of Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) in the reversal of skin damage.
Bayside Surgeon Dr Chris Coombs believes a recent medical breakthrough will help hundreds of sun-loving Baysiders fight severe skin damage. The Brighton specialist says a simple serum based on vitamin B3 is reversing damage caused by over-exposure to the sun.
He said the serum, validated last year at the Australasian College of Dermatologists conference in Sydney, could help locals suffering from the effects of too many rays.
“It is important people in Bayside understand this is available as there is a high incidence of sun damage in Bayside,” Dr Coombs said.
He said when sun rays hit the skin, they knocked out part of the cells’ immune system.
Over time the cells lost the ability to fight off changes in their structure, leading to sun damage and sometimes skin cancer.
“The serum restores part of the damaged immune system,” he said.
“This work has been going on for 20 years, but it has now been shown it can reduce instances of skin cancer.
“two to three drops a day on the face can help prevent skin cancer, or reverse sun damage already received.”
The product, going under the medical name Niacinamide, was only available from plastic surgeons and was not on the pharmaceutical benefits scheme. Dr Coombs said he had no affiliation with the product’s manufacturer but wanted to help people avoid or reverse skin damage.
“This is a big discovery; it will prevent a lot of surgery need to be done in the future,” he said.
